Pretty not Princess

We think that our little squirt is awfully cute, and it's fun getting her all dressed up. You should know, however, that we are hoping to avoid the pretty princess phase. I've never been much of a girly girl, and Phil grew up in a home with all boys. We're hoping that she will steer more towards nature, adventure, and athletics rather than the alternative. We've quickly learned that she has her own personality, and every day is a new adventure.

Either way, our little Clare Ann is as precious as they come. We're not even biased. :)

Oh yes, the Pretty Princess phase. My mother tried to interest me in all of that stuff. I was more of a pants (yes, pants . . . versus dresses, which I disliked very much), eat mud (I did that), play with bugs, and climbing the trees kind of child growing up. I guess you could say that I am currently going through the princess phase, for I find myself watching old Disney movies every now and then . . . ;)

Ann, it had better be the Discover Toys version!

Sonita Harris (Willenborg) always hoped her girls would be more athletic...but the youngest one, Brook, my god-daughter, is as girly as they come. Pink dresses, lots of dolls, painted fingernails...none of which I do anything to promote.

I just really love all the pictures of Clare and her different faces. She still looks so different in each picture. Such a precious sweetie...

Speaking from my own personal experience, sometimes you just can't avoid the pretty princess stuff. Even if it isn't actually princess stuff there are some little girls that just look for the "pretty" stuff, even if their mothers don't. We'll be driving in the car and Kate will point out the "pretty blue" cars. It will be fun to see who Clare is!

I wasnt too into that girly girl phase, alhtough I was part of it. I loved barbie dolls and polly pockets but rest assure... no matter what type of loung lady Clare becomes, she will truly be something genuine and unique...
and I located an old vocabulary word! I deserve a ticket! ;)

Excuse me, but I like to think that there is nothing wrong with that girlie princess phase..as long as she doesnt let it go to her head (and what a beautiful head it is!!) I just cant wait until we can take her shopping like we did with you not too many years ago, Corrie! Of course, since she is YOUR daughter, she probably already has a puffy vest hanging in her closet, right?! haha
