The Red Balloon

Clare received this red balloon from our waiter
at Cody's Roadhouse on Saturday evening.

Little did we know that it would provide hours of entertainment.

Phil tied it to an old remote control,
and that made the new treasure even more appealing.

We could have gone out on a nice date,
and she would have never even noticed our absence.

For all of you Grandmas, namely Grandma Durham, out there, we made sure that she didn't pop it in her face or choke on the broken pieces.  I figured that I might as well just come out and make that clear rather than respond to the comments that were sure to address such imminent dangers.

Cody's Roadhouse? What, pray tell, was the occasion? Not sure about Florida, but it's still October in Qatar

haha, well I'm glad that she enjoyed it, even if it is technically a choking hazard. Though it sounds like that could make an excellent chapter in your "what not to do" parenting book you've been working on for 12 months now. : )

One of my patients had a small child with her, who was playing with a plastic bag, and at one point during the visit had it put over his head. Distracted by this no-no, I informed the mother "um, your child has a plastic bag over his head" and she said "oh yeah, he does that sometimes". Then we had a little chat about suffocation. haha.
