After not blogging for five months, I have good intentions of updating the big events: Isaac's Birthday, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Marathon Running, My Birthday, etc.
With limited time to write, I keep coming back to the one thing that has been consistent throughout all of those events and those passing months. The one constant that makes all of those things memorable...this guy!
Phil has been gone all week on an animal transport. (He's not transporting dinosaurs, but it's almost as exciting as that.) While he's driving to and from California, I am here feeling his absence.
Phil is my "YES" man.
I can't think of a single time, in twelve years, that he has shot down one of my big ideas.
- "I want to plant a huge garden."
(Didn't work so well in toasty FL, but it was a fun experiment.)
- "I think I want to be home with our kids rather than go back to teaching."
(He is the #1 supporter of this idea.)
- "I think we should run a marathon together."
(That turned into several marathons.)
- "I want to go to two churches. Regularly. Together."
(This requires a whole post to itself, and I will get to that someday, but we go to two churches.
And we're both happy about it. Let's just say, God is good!)
- "I was wondering if you might try playing Pickleball with my dad."
(Say what?! He is such a good sport. My dad kicked his booty for the first couple of years, but now Phil loves it and even chooses to play when my dad isn't in town.)
- "I want to have another baby."
(That was for #3...not now. Don't get all excited.)
- "I want to be a doula or midwife."
(While this is not currently on the front-burner, or even back-burner,
he didn't hesitate to support the idea.)
- "Will you rub my feet?"
(This isn't necessarily a "big idea", but it is requested frequently.
No joke, he will rub my feet for a solid half-hour.)

No joke, he will rub my feet for a solid half-hour.)
- "I want to fly to Michigan this May on two consecutive weekends."
(I figured this idea was too unrealistic to justify, but I didn't know how to decide between the two big events that just happened to be over back-to-back weekends.
He immediately said, "Let's make it happen.")
I never have to tread lightly around him. I never have to mince words with him. I've never been unsure of where I stand with him. I always feel safe and secure with him. I truly believe that he fills in the gaps where I am weak, and I do the same for him. We are stronger together.
Come on now...
If Pickleball isn't the hottest thing you've ever seen...
Then surely this isn't either!
No one makes me laugh like Phil.
When Sunday rolls around, and he's numb from sitting in a truck for a full week, I will toss out the idea of road-tripping across the country together. And I know exactly how he will react.
